From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Luma Nunes started her dance training at the age of eight at Ballet Arte Dos Pés. During her time there, she distinguished herself in both national and international competitions like Passo de Arte, VKIBC, TANZOLYMP, YAGP, and WBC, earning prestigious awards and scholarships.
In 2018, Luma's talent led to her acceptance into the Bolshoi Theater School in Brazil. Shortly after graduating, she was invited to join the Bolshoi Brazil Youth Company, where she honed her skills by performing a wide range of repertoire, including classical variations, pas de deux, and contemporary pieces.
Her career then took her to the United States. In 2022, she performed with the Eglevsky Ballet Company in New York City. The following year, she was awarded a scholarship to the Pittsburgh Ballet Graduate Program, where she continued her advanced training through May 2024.
For the 2024/2025 season, Luma became a member of the Canyon Concert Ballet Company, where she performed in several notable productions, including The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and Giselle.
Looking ahead, she is thrilled to be moving to Columbia, SC, to begin her first season with the Palmetto Ballet Theatre in 2025/2026.
