Isabella Fernandes
Soloist
Isabella (Isa, they/she) was born in Ithaca, NY and grew up in Rockville, MD.
They began training at American Dance Institute, and Maryland School of Dance. There she trained under the guidance of Pamela Bjerkines, Runquio Du, Erin Du, Kimberly Parmer, Royce Kimpson Zachary, and Elizabeth Gaither.
In 2017 she joined American Repertory Ballet as a trainee for two seasons, where she trained with Douglas Martin, Mary Barton, Kirk Peterson, and Maria Youskevitch. They also had the opportunity to perform with the company in full length productions, such as “Coppèlia”, and “The Nutcracker”.
Isa attended summer intensives including Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive, Burklyn Ballet Theatre,
Milwaukee Ballet, and Central School of Ballet London (Ballet Central).
Their professional dance work includes contracts with Neville Dance Theatre, Ballet
Fantastique, guest contracts with Nevada Ballet and Virginia National Ballet, and 3 seasons with Columbia Classical Ballet. During her time at Columbia Classical Ballet, Isa performed soloist roles in Brooklyn Mack’s “Swan Lake”, “Paquita”, “Le Corsaire”,“The Nutcracker”, and in Andile Ndlovu’s creation, “Osmo”.
Isabella is an ABT® Certified Teacher, and has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher
Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
She is very excited to embark on this new adventure with Palmetto Ballet Theatre for their
inaugural season as a Soloist!
